Sometimes we have to distance ourselves from people not because of who they are or what they’ve done or failed to do, but because of who we become when we’re connected to them. Loving people draw love out of others, same with positivity, honesty, etc. Make sure you’re around people who help you reveal everything that’s amazing about you!
At one point or another, we all deal with fear, in some capacity. Whether it’s anxiety, stepping out of your comfort zone, or worrying about the future, fear is a part of life. For me, my fears have shown up in four distinct ways, more so related to my dreams and writing, filmmaking. For me, fear has shown up in being concerned with failure, embarrassment, attack (harsh public criticism), and rejection (fear). At different times in my life, and sometimes all at once, they’ve kept me from doing what I really wanted to do, be who I really wanted to be. It took me years to start my blog because of these concerns, and when I was ready to dive in, I almost quit and said forget it. Now, I’m working on replacing these fears with affirmations and truths. God has not given me a spirit of fear, but of power, love and a sound mind. This means that failure nor embarrassment, attack or rejection can stop me from living, being who God created me to be. So for now on, I’m going to fight against the fear of failure by doing everything my heart leads me to do, no matter what; fight against embarrassment by accepting who and what my heart leads me to be; fight against attack by speaking what my heart leads me to say; and fight against rejection by loving myself unconditionally. Let’s not allow fear to win. Let’s take control of our lives, and selves and choose to live free!
A few weeks ago, it hit me. Frustration took over. Fatigue took over. Distraction ran every moment. Sadness took root. Hopelessness filled my heart. Confusion filled my mind.
I was depressed. For no apparent reason, I was here again. At least the third time this year. A season I am tired of revisiting, of reliving, of fighting repeatedly. Continue reading
Good afternoon and Happy Indigenous Peoples’ Day! The truth is…this land, and everything that built this nation was stolen! Let the truth be known and declared to all! Let’s not celebrate false narratives nor history!
There is a difference between being free, knowing that you’re free, and living like you’re free. There is a difference between being loved, knowing that you’re loved, and living like you’re loved. There are levels to this, lol. Make sure, that with any and every thing you receive, whether it be peace, joy, wealth, love, freedom, confidence, wisdom, etc., that you use it to enrich your life and help others do the same. Don’t just get to get; receive to transform in some type of way. Receive to become, know to become, do to become, a better version of you!
Good morning and Happy Monday! My heart goes out to the victims, family members and everyone injured by the shooting in Las Vegas. I can’t imagine what it’s like to experience a tragedy like this one, and I pray that the space to mourn, healing and wholeness is gifted to all impacted. America’s truth is being revealed right before our eyes. Let’s pay attention, let’s call it all out, let’s do the work to change it. It’s the only way things are going to get better.
For the past several months, I’ve been trying to establish a daily routine that will help me get more done, nurture my soul and maximize my time.
In real life, though, the snooze button became my best friend when the alarm went off every morning, making it a struggle to wake up at the same time every day. I also stayed up late, binge watching whatever was on Netflix or Hulu, trying to fill some type of void that I couldn’t explain. Continue reading
Earlier this week, I was on Facebook unfriending someone who I really don’t have to be friends with, but could just follow. As I was switching this up, I saw a new option for ignoring or getting rid of people on your friends list. LOL. It’s under “Unfriend” and above “Unfollow”. Guess what it’s called? “Take a Break”. Good afternoon and Happy Monday! In this what are other people doing, thinking and saying world, it’s easy to lose ourselves. It’s easy to get caught up in popular opinion, thoughts about how to do things, who to be, and how to be. I recently found myself researching the way other people posted something to see if the way I wanted to post was “good enough”. With creativity-art, writing, music, etc., it can be like second nature to “check-in” with what’s been successful or liked as opposed to creating or doing what’s naturally from within. Going forward, I’m going to be more mindful of the ways I discount my art and natural abilities, who I am and what I have to offer the world by trying to make it “fit” with what’s been deemed “good”. I don’t need permission to write how or what I write, create how or what I create, and neither do you. What matters is that it comes from a place of authenticity, a place that is really, totally you. Let your beautiful, amazing inner self guide you to your ultimate self!
