At one point or another, we all deal with fear, in some capacity. Whether it’s anxiety, stepping out of your comfort zone, or worrying about the future, fear is a part of life. For me, my fears have shown up in four distinct ways, more so related to my dreams and writing, filmmaking. For me, fear has shown up in being concerned with failure, embarrassment, attack (harsh public criticism), and rejection (fear). At different times in my life, and sometimes all at once, they’ve kept me from doing what I really wanted to do, be who I really wanted to be. It took me years to start my blog because of these concerns, and when I was ready to dive in, I almost quit and said forget it. Now, I’m working on replacing these fears with affirmations and truths. God has not given me a spirit of fear, but of power, love and a sound mind. This means that failure nor embarrassment, attack or rejection can stop me from living, being who God created me to be. So for now on, I’m going to fight against the fear of failure by doing everything my heart leads me to do, no matter what; fight against embarrassment by accepting who and what my heart leads me to be; fight against attack by speaking what my heart leads me to say; and fight against rejection by loving myself unconditionally. Let’s not allow fear to win. Let’s take control of our lives, and selves and choose to live free!
There is a difference between being free, knowing that you’re free, and living like you’re free. There is a difference between being loved, knowing that you’re loved, and living like you’re loved. There are levels to this, lol. Make sure, that with any and every thing you receive, whether it be peace, joy, wealth, love, freedom, confidence, wisdom, etc., that you use it to enrich your life and help others do the same. Don’t just get to get; receive to transform in some type of way. Receive to become, know to become, do to become, a better version of you!
Without injustice and inequality, number 45, North Korea preparing for war, local, state and national government failures, hurricane disasters, etc., life still remains difficult to navigate, build among opposition, and make real what we hope and envision. With all of these things, it can seem like doing anything worthwhile is either a waste of time or impossible. While we fight for what we want, what we need, and the world we want to see, we must remind ourselves that there is still beauty in the struggle. Waking up every morning, the sound of a baby cooing, flowers blooming, leaves transforming, inviting us to a season of change, and bright, blue skies that show dark days don’t last too long. Amidst all of the heartache, there is something in life to celebrate, to uplift, to enjoy, to love. Find it, absorb it, and share it. Light is the power of life!
You can’t make something right if you don’t first acknowledge that there is a problem! Be honest with yourself, the people you love, and the world about your experiences, your truths. Don’t ever let false information be presented or believed as true. Whether it’s calling people out, protesting, correcting, sharing; let the truth, your truth, be known!
