The Mountains That Made Me | My First Short Doc

So…I’ve been SO nervous to share this, but a friend at #mastHERclass, an event this past weekend, encouraged me to do it. So here it is!

This project is SO close to my heart. It took a lot of blood, sweat, tears and love to make it happen. It’s my baby. It encapsulates everything I want to gift to the world as far as creating films and content. The purpose of everything I do is to affirm, heal, and uplift black women and girls, empowering them to become their best selves and live their best lives! This journey, just like anything else in life, has not been without its challenges.

Monday-Motivation-WonderfulGood afternoon and Happy Monday! In this what are other people doing, thinking and saying world, it’s easy to lose ourselves. It’s easy to get caught up in popular opinion, thoughts about how to do things, who to be, and how to be. I recently found myself researching the way other people posted something to see if the way I wanted to post was “good enough”. With creativity-art, writing, music, etc., it can be like second nature to “check-in” with what’s been successful or liked as opposed to creating or doing what’s naturally from within. Going forward, I’m going to be more mindful of the ways I discount my art and natural abilities, who I am and what I have to offer the world by trying to make it “fit” with what’s been deemed “good”. I don’t need permission to write how or what I write, create how or what I create, and neither do you. What matters is that it comes from a place of authenticity, a place that is really, totally you. Let your beautiful, amazing inner self guide you to your ultimate self!
