It’s been 8 days since we shot “Black Girl, Bleu”. 192 hours of refueling, reflecting, and reimagining my vision for this project. Exactly 374 days after my first FB post about what was then, an idea.
✴︎
Thankfully, the day went so smoothly, and I am happy, satisfied and grateful for every moment, each minute I shared with every person on set.
✴︎
I want to say thank you again to everyone who donated, offered support, helped set up, listened to my ideas, sent encouraging messages, liked or shared and prayed. ✴︎
Thank you so much to my amazing crew of compassionate, boss, brave black women who helped make this happen. Without your love and dedication, “Black Girl, Bleu” would remain a thought, an idea buried within my soul.
✴︎
Each woman I interviewed exuded so much power, wisdom and truth in telling their stories and I am more than sure that their experiences and knowledge will help other black women get through some of the most trying times of their lives.
✴︎
They had me laughing, crying, screaming "Yasss" inside and believing that there is tremendous value in storytelling, in film, in being transparent. I appreciate you all so much.
✴︎
I can't believe that the biggest part of the project is complete - and I must be honest - it makes me feel a bit sad because I didn't realize how much I absolutely enjoyed reading about black women - our struggles, our beauty, stereotypes of us and mental health as it relates to us; planning this project, thinking about this project and envisioning this project.
✴︎
It's provided so much clarity for what's next - for more of what my purpose entails. It reminded me of my need to tune in to and create through my intuition. To let my spirit guide me. It showed me that I am able to see something in my head and heart and bring it to life. To birth what began as a seed, a spark in the core of my being.
✴︎
And this is just the beginning. The teaser for “Black Girl, Bleu” is coming soon! And so are a few other projects. All with the same mission - Affirm. Heal. Empower. - women and girls who look like me. #blackgirlbleu #sincerelysharee #blackfilmmaker #motivation
On this #WellnessWednesday, I’m thinking about how it’s an honor to be working on “Black Girl, Bleu” during Bebe Moore Campbell National Minority Mental Health Awareness Month - which I knew nothing about until recently.
✴︎
It reminds me of the ways we aren’t aware of how mental illness impacts us, our family members and friends or communities.
✴︎
It reminds me of how we suffer because we don’t think our pain matters, or know how, or what our options are, where to go, or if we can actually get better.
✴︎
It moves me to continue this work and show how healing is possible, from black women who have been through it.
✴︎
I know that this project is going to heal and change lives - my mission for everything I put my hands and heart to. Will you join me by donating an amount that is on your heart? That could be $5, $20 or $100 - it ALL helps! And EACH person who donates will receive a credit in the "Special Thanks" section.
✴︎
I appreciate your support and encouragement! It truly means the world to me! 🤗💖💫

I’m officially ready for summer, summer, summertime! 🎶
There’s so much to accomplish over the next few months - a short docuseries; two narrative shorts; establishing an exercise routine; eating better; my 9 to 5; and publishing a coffee table book among other things.
✴︎
Therefore...my weekly 4-hour wash n gos weren’t going to cut it (I have soooo much hair 😩)! So here we are...knotless, triangle part box braids. I love them and they are soooo light! No more sore neck from carrying five pounds of kankelon on my head, lol.
✴︎
Thank you, cousin @ashleigh_the_hair_slayer! You’re so bomb! 😘🤗
✴︎
Here’s to summer 2019 and making things happen. I’m SO ready!

Good morning on this #WellnessWednesday and #Juneteenth!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
✴︎⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
In light of today’s theme, I want to share something. This July and August, I am shooting my next short documentary - "Black Girl, Bleu" - a conversation with Black women about the mental health challenges they've been through, face and have overcome.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
✴︎⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Last year, I received an Artist Support Grant from the @RegionalArtsCommission of St. Louis to purchase equipment so I can produce this project, and now I am ready to make my vision a reality. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
✴︎⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Through this documentary, I want to deconstruct the stigmas surrounding mental health; help those around us realize that mental illness does not "look" any particular way; create a safe, loving place for black women to share their truth; and help black women experiencing the same challenges see that they are not alone and that healing is possible. I also want black women to know that they matter, their pain matters and they are loved. I want black women to become free of everything that limits them and holds them back from their greatness!
✴︎
If you would like to offer in-kind support, be featured in the film, help behind the scenes or make a donation towards completion of the project (all donations will go towards hiring a film crew, editing, renting a studio for filming, booking a screening location and craft services/meals for crew and participants), visit the link in my bio and complete the interest form or click on the campaign link.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
✴︎⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I appreciate your time, support and hope that you will assist me in helping others by creating content that affirms, heals and empowers. Please like and share. Blessings!

Soon, very soon, I will be on the beach again, and I can't wait! There's something about it that just makes me feel connected to God. The Creator. Life. Breath. Existence.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
✴︎⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I took this pic during my trip to California last August, and it reminds of the first time I went to the beach. I was so in awe, and it was like my soul and being became one. It was the moment I knew that I had to live somewhere near the ocean, because I just felt at home.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
✴︎⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
It reminds me that oftentimes, where we feel at home isn't necessarily where we were born, where we grew up, mindset, or the people we're related to. Sometimes it's a totally different place, group of people or perspective. And that's okay.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
✴︎⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I feel like the ocean and beaches were made just for me, lol. Just like each of us were made at a specific time, in a specific location, for a specific reason. Where do you feel at home? Where do you go when you want to feel totally secure, aligned and at rest? #sincerelysharee
