7 Things to Believe When You Think You Can’t Do It

Over the past six days, God has spoken to me twice regarding my inner thoughts and feelings.

Last week, I was wondering whether I should keep writing this much – between my blog, writing entertainment stories, reviews and feature articles, my wrists and arms have been in pain. I have carpal tunnel to thank (NOT) for the aching, every time I do what I love to do.

I didn’t wonder this out loud or even speak to anyone about it, but the conversation in my head was: how am I going to keep writing like this; should I keep writing with this pain and discomfort? God quickly responded with a resounding yes! Last Friday, I found out that my review of the TV show The Manns was featured in a commercial for the show on TV One, and here it is:

I have also questioned whether or not I have the education to make it in the film and television industry considering that I didn’t graduate from a film school, nor do I have a degree in creative writing, film, television or video production. I have experience in all of these areas, but not the “formal” education.

Well last night, God filled my uncertainty with faith. In the mail, I received the alumni magazine for SLU, and one of the teasers on the front was for a feature article on James Gunn, an alumnus who works in Hollywood – on big budget, wildly successful films such as Scooby-Doo, The Belko Experiment and more! He talked about how his time at SLU prepared him, so it was confirmation for me that I can do it, too. I didn’t share this doubt – because let’s call it what it is – with anyone; I hadn’t even said it out loud, it wasn’t even a thought, but more of a feeling.

So I say all of this to say that when you’re pursuing your dreams, at times you will doubt yourself – your abilities, your level of knowledge, your experience, you being “good enough”.

In these moments, it’s important to remind yourself that you don’t need to have everything in the beginning to make your dreams come true because God fills the missing spaces, the gaps.

Remember that what you want to do – your dreams, goals, etc. – doesn’t have to be accomplished already for you to be able to do it. In other words, your dream isn’t possible because someone else has done it. It’s possible because you believe in it, God and yourself. You can be the first to do it, whatever it is! You are inherently limitless!

The Creator of the universe designed you to craft a life that feeds your heart, soul and mind. You are meant to make your wildest dreams come true. So whatever you tell yourself; like my parents told me growing up; “can’t is not in your vocabulary”. You can, and you will!

God is ordering every one of your steps. Although it might not look like your current path is leading you to your dream, it is preparing you for your dream. So don’t take any opportunity for granted. We don’t realize it, but each step of faith is a step towards our destiny.

You don’t need permission from other people, nor do you need their approval on how and when you should do what you do. Your intuition has already told you what and how to do what you need to do. Your intuition is your guide, and it’s God speaking to you through your being. So follow it!

Do what appears to be impossible. You determine what you can or can’t do by your thoughts, words and actions. When you feel like you can’t do something, take these affirmations to heart.

WHEN YOU FEEL LIKE YOU CAN’T, SPEAK THESE THINGS

  1. I am not alone. God is by my side every step of the way, leading and guiding me.
  2. I can do what I have been called to do because God has created me to do it.
  3. I will fulfill my destiny and make my dreams a reality in the time it is meant to happen.
  4. I have been prepared for this moment in my life, one step of faith at a time.
  5. I will make mistakes, but they do not define me. They are the lessons that will lead me to my purpose.
  6. I am focused, fierce and faithful to my God-given calling!
  7. I am mature and ready for God’s use, created for such a time as this. I am a blossom who will bear much fruit! *This one is the motto God gave me for 2017!*

God answers our thoughts and inner feelings before we’ve even articulated them, often to let us know that we’re on the right path.

God will take you everywhere you need to go to make your dreams and His destiny for your life a reality.

God has built within you everything you need to fulfill your purpose. Take the first step. Believe in God. Believe in yourself! Do what you think you can’t, because you can!

Be loved. Love you. Be love.

Very inspiring and encouraging words. Thank you for posting. I especially loved when you said “Although it might not look like your current path is leading you to your dream, it is preparing you for your dream.” Everything happens for a reason and every situation has a lesson that help us become wiser.✨

Thank you so much love! Yes, you’re right! Everything we experience in life is part of our story, either to encourage others, strengthen us or help us be compassionate towards others!
